On May 3, 2024, our Lodge held a scholarship recognition dinner to honor all our Elks
scholarship recipients, answering Grand Exalted Ruler, Randy Shook’s call for Lodges to spon-
sor programs during the week of May 1-7 dedicated to our country’s youth in honor of Elks Na-
tional Youth Week.
This year, our Lodge awarded a total of $3,000, as well as $31,500 on behalf of the Flori-
da State Elks Association, and $4,000 on behalf of the Elks National Foundation, bringing the
total amount of scholarships awarded to Ormond Beach area students to $38,500. Our Lodge
awarded three Ormond Beach Elks Lodge Scholarships in the amount of $1,000 each to Tiden
Burch and Kaiden Kolis of Spruce Creek High School, and Xaria McCoy of Mainland High
School. In addition, the Lodge presented C. Valentine Bates Memorial HOPE Scholarship
awards on behalf of the Florida State Elks Association to Wyatt Kent, Luke Womack, Kylee
Robertson, and Cole Brown, of Seabreeze High School; Kaila Bellamy, of Atlantic High School,
and Xaria McCoy. Mr. Kent, Mr. Womack, and Ms. McCoy will receive $7,500 each, and Mr.
Brown, Ms. Robertson, and Ms. Bellamy will each receive $3,000 scholarship awards. Addition-
ally, the Lodge presented an Elks National Foundation Most Valuable Student Scholarship
award on behalf of the Elks National Foundation in the amount of $4,000 to Tiden Burch.
Seven of our eight scholars and their families in attendance were treated to dinner, and
each recipient was presented with a certificate. Special guests included parents, grandparents,
school principals and administrators, FSEA Secretary and COO, Carl Seibert, the HOPE Schol-
arship State Chairman, Joe Pepe, East Central District ENF and HOPE Scholarship Chairper-
sons, Paul Leonard and Dean Yeager. A great time was had by all. Congratulations to all our
scholarship recipients, and thank you, members, for your generous donations that support
these scholarships and these outstanding students each year. Many thanks to our great team
of volunteers, Robert and Michelle Berardi, Kathy Ahrens, Jenny Muche, Debbie and Steve
Brozyna, Jack Barger, and Joan Burroughs for assisting with the event, and Scholarship Com-
mittee members Joe Brozyna, Troy Kent, Todd Phillips, and Marlena Pigliacampi for their time
and dedication to this important committee and for helping to make this event a great success.
